John William Waterhouse Art Prints and Posters
Painting in the mid to late 19th century, several young artists including John William Waterhouse (1849-1917), inspired by the Renaissance and the Italian painter and architect Raphael, formed the secret society known as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
The Pre-Raphaelite movement often reflected medieval and Arthurian themes with a strong element of romance. Waterhouse is popular for both his romantic Arthurian paintings and his Shakespeare-inspired works, as well as many neo-classical paintings with Greek and Roman mythological themes.
